Ths annual report, of the New Zealand Cricket Association, to be presented 'to the meeting of delegates this month, contains the following:— Your fommitteo is glad to reporfT that the past season was one of great activity, great interest in the various competitions being-shown by all concerned. In addition, an unprecedented number of representative matches were <playd, and your association's policy in promoting malciis with smaller associations met with special approbation from the New Zealand Cricket Council. A special fixture— Wellington Junior Representatives v. Canterbury Junior Representatives—which it is hoped will become an annual event, was played for the first time. CHAMPIONSHIPS. ' The club championships were won as follows:—Senior, Petone; Junior A, Mur»hv's Pipeworks; Junior B. Petone and Y.M.C.A, (bracketed); Third A, Marist Broo. Old Boys; Third B. Kilbirnie. The cordial thankr. of tho association are tendered to the Canterbury. Otago. Auckland. Wanganui and Hawke's Bay Associations ior tho s r o*t kindness and hospitality fchown to your representatives while on tour. FINANCIAL. As was forecasted in last year's annua! report the association, has suffered ia small loss as a result of the season's" operations. Thei« are two main pauses which 'contribute towards nuch a result:—The inevitable expense attached to the southern tour to Chnetchurch and Dunedin and the northern tour to Auokland which the association was in duty bound to Undertake, ■- The reduction of ground fee* chargeable to junior clubs from Is to 6d per player per Saturday, which has resulted in a shrinkage of ground fees from j£ls4 5i Gd in 1918-1910 to .£96 9s Gd in 1919-1820. Apart from the loss which the association suffered as the result of tho northern and southern tours (and which it is confidently expected will bo more than made cood as a result of the return representative matches to be played in Wellington dv.riuK the forthcoming season) and the shrinkage in ground fees, the material increase in most of the other items which 'go to make up the association'* annual rtvenue account-should bo note,;!. These ore (previous season's figures in parenthesis):—Rent (.£2O). .£23; entries (XVI 8s), £!7 14s; hon. members (,£66 3s), •£62 19s; gates, club matches (.£53 lis 3d). ,£73 8s I'd; bank interest (JS3 7s 6d), £l2 10s. The return from pi notice wickets on the Basin' Reserve shows a slight falling off, due to the enforced, restriction on the number of wickets available - These item.*, show that although tho association has made ■i small lots during the season it has by no means retrojrressed. • '■ BASIN RESERVE. The association's agreement, with the Wellington City Council' as to the use and control of the Basin Resorve expires in September and a special subcommittee has been set tip to negotiate for a renewal. A special subcommittee was also set up during the year to consider a suggestion that one match only be played oh tho Reserve on Saturday afternoon* during the forthcoming- season. ::The subcommittee went thoroughly into the matter, and as a result of the report brought down ft has been decided to adopt the suggestion, and all arrangements have been made to give effect to the same. Your committee is unanimously of opinion that the step decided Upon will greatly imprbve the (standard Of cricket in Wellington. OTHER MATTERS.. A special •subcommittee was appointed to revise th« rules of the association, and tho draft :ules, ( as submitted by the subcommittee, will coma up for consideration and alteration, if necessary, at the annual meeting. The thanks Of the associatien are due to Messrs T. L. Austin, S. F. ; Wilson, and C. S. Hammond, of Christchurch, for acting as delegates to tho New Zealand. Cricket Council, to the umpires and «cere)fs who officiated during the season, to the Press for its reports of meetings and matches, and to the honorary members for their continued support. *
