FREE TRADE ADVOCATED. pBTr. VT7FFJR ASSOCIATION. , GISBORNE, September 4. Tho largest meeting of farmers over held in Poverty Bay took place to-day to consider tho meat trade problem. It was convened by tho East Coast .Sheepfarmora’ Association, and the president, Mr W. G. Sberratt, moved: “That in view of the congestion at Homo and in tho Dominion, it is desirable that free trade in frozen moat bo permitted inside the safeguard of the Slaughtering Inspection Act Amendment to the effect that it is detrimental to the interests of producers to grant licenses in any shape or form either to Armour’s or any like enterprise.” Tho motion was carried by an overwhelming majority. It was decided to telegraph tho amendment to the Premier.
