RECORD LAND SALE
KOPANE ESTATE PUT UP FOB AUCTION. MB PRESS ASSOCIATION. ITJiiIIiDING, March 23. "What is claimed to be a record land sale was held this afternoon in the Drill Hall, 'A'here was an attendance of over 600 from all parts of tho West Coast. The bidding was keen. Lach. lan Mcliean, of i'eilding, sold his Ko. pane estate and two sections at Chel. tenham, both close to Feilding and Ko pane, where there is a solclior-settle« men*. The rich dairying land was out up into 26 sections of from 24 to 49 acres. Tho sections sold in their order at £lsl. £125, £154, £177, £lsl, £l2l, £l2O, £lO7, £126, £123, £l2l, £llO, £l3l, £127, £122, £l3l, £lll, £BS £IOO, £7B, £57, £lO6, £ll3, £94, and £75 per acre. The average was £ll4 10s jJef aero and the total for Kopane was £lO4, 886.
TVo dairying sections at Chelten ham of 270 and 338 acrea respectively told at £6O 10s por aero. The total realised by the whole sale was £l3O/ 065. The cutting up of Kopane make* for closer settlement, indicated by the fact that there were 25 buyers for th» 28 sections. Murray, ftoberts and Co., who conducted the sale, say it is ■ the most successful ever held by them in New Zealand.
