COASTAL STEAMER SERVICES

ARRANGEMENTS FOR EASTER. EXTRA STEAMERS FOR FERRY BUN. Although a complete programme of sailings has not yet been arranged by the Union Company in connection with the Easter passenger coastal siteamer •services, it is possmle ito give the public some idea' of the adequate service to be provided between Wellington and Lyttelton. The Maori, which is undergoing boiler repairs at Port Chalmers, will not be ready for sea for some time yet. The date of her resumption in the ferry service is not yet known, but it is not at all likely that she will take up her running until after Easter. - In order to cope with the traffic the intercolonial steamer Manuka will assist for one trip. She will leave Wellington on Tuesday evening, March 30th, and sail from Lyttelton on Wednesday, March - 31sfc, leaving Wellington on Thursday, April Ist, for Sydney and Hobart. It as expected that the Mokoia, which is due at Auckland about Wednesday, March 24th, from Suva, will leave the northern port at the end of next week for Wellington in order to further assist in the ferry service during the Easter holidays.

The Mapourika, on her return to Wellington this week from New Plymouth, will relieve the Pateena in the Wellington-Picton-Nelson service on March 26th. The Pateena will then be placed on tbe Wellington patent slip for cleaning and painting, after which she will take up her running in conjunction with the Mapourika until after the Easter holidays.
