The delegates to the New Zealand Clydesdale Horse Society have decided to make an annual distribution of four gold medals for competition by Clydesdales at various agricultural and pastoral shows in the Dominion.

An Army Order states that the King has approved of an emblem- being worn on the* riband of the Victory Medal by all personnel on the strength of the British, Dominion, Colonial and Indian Expeditionary Forces, who have been mentioned one or more times in the military dispatches during the recent war by a commander in the field. The emblem will bo an oak leaf in bronze, and two emblems will be supplied in each case.

On Tuesday last a woman, Margaret McHugh, was arrested on a charge of loitering in Vivian street for the purpose of prostitution. McHugh was escorted to the police station, and upon being granted permission* to absent herself for a moment or two mfxie good her escape, and, was rearrested on Friday. On Saturday MoHucjh appeared before Mr E. Page, S.M., on the original charge and was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within twelve months. Mr J. Scott, who appeared for tho defendant, said she had done her best to make good, and it was five years since she was previously before the court.

An interesting address entitled “Hie -New Censorship and the Freedom Thought” was delivered by Professor T. A. Hunter at'Alexandra Hall last evening before a large audience. The speaker outlined the system of censorship introduced during the war and criticised the methods employed. He stated that the. suppression of newspapers ana books dealing with such subjects as “Russia” was totally unfair and that nothing, could he" gained by this censorship. Continuing, tho lecturer gave instances of Sedition which had not been dealt with owing to tho fact that the guilty parties possessed great political. influence. The speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
