NEW BUILDING IN CHSISTOHBUOH.

The Bank of New Zealand is at present considering plans providing for the rebuilding of its premises fronting on Cathedral square, Colombo and Hereford streets, Christchurch. It is quit© possible that a four-stowed building will be erected which will sitand on all .the land owned by the bank on this site. This will mean a considerable extension of the ground space of the present premises. Mr G. A. 11. Tapper, manager of the hank in'Christchurch, slbated that tho hank authorities in Wellington are now considering the plana. It might be that the bank will decide to simply extend its present buildings on to the land which‘it owns but does, not occup Y this includes n vacant area at the entrance to Cathedral square. Personnllv. however, he thought it quite possible that the hank will decade to erect an entirely new bunding to occupy all the land owned by it on, and adjacent to, its present premises. _ A proposal is to make the building a four or five-storied one. and to let the upper stories to tenants^ The work proposed will he out in hand immediately, once the plans are decided upon:
