MR MYERS' TRIP HOME

“MANY BILLS ON TABLE.” Speaking at the fardwell gathering in his honour at the Commercial Travellers’ Club yesterday, the Hon. Arthur Myers said that he was leaving New Zealand at the present time, because he felt that, while the State had' claims on all citizens, the individual citizen had also to meet the claims of his wife and family; and after sixteen years’ service to the State, he was contemplating a trip Home for the purpose of plcing his children at 'school in England.

“I shall be away for sonie months,” ,h eadded, “and I am afraid I will not ”be able to be associated with my friend the new Liberal Leader, during the coming session. But as you know the first session is not a session of work. (Laughter.) There will be many bills thrown on the table of the House no doubt; but. how many will be passed, who can say? (Laughter.) After I return there can bo a stock-taking and a new policy can be formulated.” (Laughter and applause.)
