YACHTING SEASON
TURNBULL CUP CONTEST
To-morrow (Saturday) will provide one of the most important figures of the yachting season—the Turn bull Cup. The late Mr A. H. Turnbull was a very enthusiastic yachtsman, and a cup known as the Alexander Turnbull Memorial Cup, or, shortly, as the Turnbull 'Cup, was presented to the Port Nicholson Yacht Club by the executors of Mr Turnbulls .estate. Mr Turnbull held tho office of .commodore of the club for some years, and had the yachts Rona, Mini, and loraugi built. , . » The cup is a solid silver lovmg-cup, valued at about fifty guineas. It was originally won by Mr Turnbull’s Rona as a championship cup in her class. It is on view in the window of Messrs Duncan and Macintosh, in Manners street. , , The club has engaged the Duchess for the afternoon, and an announcement appears in our advertising columns. All the finest yachts in the harbour are competing, and the fixture promises to be as picturesque a sight and as interesting n race as the Mills Cup last Saturday week.
