CHIEF DENTAL OFFICER
COLONEL HUNTER RESIGNS ADVERSE CRITICISM OF APPOINTMENT. Colonel T. A. Hunter, who was head of the New Zealand Dental Corps during the war, was a few months ago appointed chief dental officer to the Rdtication Department for the purpose of inaugurating a scheme of dental inspection and treatment of school children. It is understood that Colonel Hunter has now announced to the New Zealand Dental Association his intention of resigning tho pose. There was some criticism in the dental profession at the time over the manner of Colonel Hunter's appointment. One of the stipulations advertised in calling .for applications for the position was that it would be an advantage if the applicant was under middle age. It was contended by a number of those who publicly criticised tho appointment that the successful applicant did not comply with that condition, and that tho Public Service Commissioner by publishing such a stipulation had barred, other dentists even from applying.
