COAL OUTPUT
POSITION IMPROVING. PER TOESS ASSOCIATION. CHiBJISTCHUHCH, March 17. Tho coal position is improving. Mr William Reeco, who has returned from the West Coast, says the output is increasing,'* and the men are working well. The Welsh miners are now at work, said Mr Reeco, and after getting used to tho different conditions, will settle down without trouble. Thv daily output at the Westport-Stockton mino towards the end of the low period was under 400 tons. Last week the averago was 576 tons per day and 3453 tons in all, a distinct improvement that is partly duo to tho extra men working and partly to the end of the go-slow policy. "Of course, we expect we will take sorao littlo timo before things are adjusted," added Mr Reece.
