NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
IN PRIVATK SCHOOLS. The Auckland Education Board sent on to the Wellington Education Board recently a resolution disapproving of the holding of national scholarships at Erivate schools. The Wellington Board ad this resolution- before it yesterday, and the chairman (Mr T. Forsyth) asked if the members had anything to say on the subject. Mr R. McCallum: Well, send it on to Wanganui! The chairman: Why Wanganui? Mr McCallum: Because scholarships have been held there from timo immemorial.
The chairman: My sympathies are entirely with the motion. I move it. Mr J. J. Clarke: I second that.
Mr Harkness agreed with the motion. The private schools wore undermining State schools. The motion was carried.
