AUTOMOBILE CLUB
MEETING OF COMMITTEE 1 . At a committee meeting of the above there were present—Messrs C. M. Banks, AV. S. Wilson, L. R. Partridge, B. Doniie, J. J. Williamson, C. C. Holmes, AV. Mantcll. The following new members vera elected: —P. Curtis, C. Clabbuin, W. Eeid. S- Edilson, D. H. Taylor, E Hunt, G. B. Grantham, H. W. Piper, AV. C. Burgc, A. Gelatly. S. Harlaud, Wakehain's Taxis. It was resolved that members joining after March Ist should be admitted at half tho usual subscription, namely 10s fid. the financial year ending August 30th. In response to Mr C. H. Izard's stated ment.that the Petono hurdles were again in a bad state, and that the club should take action in tho matter,it was decided that the Petono Council be written to with regard to this matter, and also to point out the bad state of the main road in the vicinity, as several complaints kad lately been received from motorist* The secretary reported that the. Upper Hutt-Waikanae road was now complete with the exception of about a mile and a half which is expected to be finished about the end of the year. Mr C. C. Holme* submitted his report on the sign boards placed on the Hutt road. It was resolved to adopt same. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr ffolmeo. The Waipukurau County Council wrote asking the club to undertake to erect ringer posts in their district. The mafcter was referred to the Kew Zealand Automobile Union. Several complaints were received with regard to the non-observance of rules of the road, also the City Couneir By-laws by the average carrier in the city. It was decided that the secretary of the Drivers' Union be written to, pointing out the non-observance of the by-laws and suggesting that a circular bo sent out to their members pointing out these Cacts, and asking that same bo rectified.
