CIVIL SERVANTS’ DEMANDS
WILL P. AND T. AND A.S.R.S. COOPERATE. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. WANGANUI, March 12. The Wanganui branch of the P. afid 1. Association passed the following resolution to-night; “Tnis meeting is of the opinion that tho continual increase in the cost of household necessaries is capable of control by ijie Government, and regrets that no apparent effort has been made to .decisively grapple with the question. Tjhe meeting calls upon the executive committee. to place before the department and the Government the plight of the majority of the officers with sin til fixed salaries or' wages, who have to contend with, those rising prices, and to ask that substantial increases be granted so as to bring officers’ incomes up to their pre-war spending value." “That in the event of the Government declining to grant immediately the war bonus promised by Sir Joseph Ward, the committee be instructed to arrange for members of the P. and T. Association to take concerted action with the railway employees on any questions relating to increase in wages."
“GO SLOW" THREATENED BY BAIL WAY AIBN.
AUCKLAND, March 12. A meeting of railwaymen at the Newmarket workshops decided not to accept Air Justice Stringer’s report, and resolved that the executive should make another effort to Obtain an increase in wages, failing which a .goslow policy he enforced on members of the societies known ■as A.S.R.S. E.F.O.A. and R.OJ.
