ANTHRAX PREVENTION
CERTAIN IMPORTS PROHIBITED
In order to prevent the conveyance of anthrax, an Order-in-Council was gazetted-yesterday prohibiting the importation into Now Zealand of the following articles: — 1. Toilet brushes or toilet articles containing or made from the hair of animals—(a) If manufactured in Eastern or South-eastern Asia, India, Ceylon,. Japan, the East India Islands, and the Philippine Islands; or (h) if manufactured in other countries and deemed in the opinion of the Collector of Customs likely to convey anthrax; unless the said brushes or .articles are disinfected at the expense pf the importer to the satisfaction of the district health officer.
2. Animal wool, hair, including ifts” or “drawn” hair, and bristles —(a) If grown in Eastern or South-east-ern Asia. India, Ceylon, Japan, the East India Island, and the Philippine Islands; or (h) If grown in other counries and deemed in .the on in ion of tho Collector of. Customs likely to convey anthrax ; unless the said wool, hair, or bristles are disintected, at the expense of the importer to the satisfaction of the district health officer.
