RUGBY FOOTBALL
WELLINGTON CLUB. The fiftieth annual'general meeting o; the "Wellington Football Club was holu in the Y.MC.A. rooms on Tuesday evening. Tho president (Mr T. S. Eounldeon) pnr sided over an excellent gathering ox members, including Dr AlcEvocly, Messrs G. C. Fache. G. F. Jackson and J °bu Thompson. . The president, who enjoys the honour of having been a member of the club for 43 years, moved the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, and said he was very pleased to see such a large gathering of members. He trusted the attendance was an omen of ft succcerfu season. He complimented the club on its clean record on the field ftnd off and hoped that players would live up to the high ideals established by past member!.. He complimented, the management on the position, of the club finances, which showed that considerable care and economy had been practised. - He wished the club every success in the coming season Mr G. C. Fache seconded the motion and expressed tho hope that with the aid of returned members much success would bo accomplished during the season. . , . . , Mr J. Thompson, club captain, also spoke at length and reviewed the year’s activities. He complimented the club on having obtained such a fine cup for presentation to tho union to perpetuate tho memory of tho club’s late club captain—"the best friend rugby football has ever had in New Zealand,” the late Mr D. D. Weir. Dr McEvedy made an appeal to members to stick to tho good old amateur game and to do all.. in their power to thwart professionalism,ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

Gilmer, O. F. Jackson, A- K. S. Mackenzie, V. E. Meredith, J. Murray. Dr X’. J. McEvedy, Dr it. j. McLean, H. D. Smith, J. JWoir; club captain, J. Thompson; deputy club captain. Q. H. Weir; hon. secretary, A. E. Cooper (re-elected); assistant non. secretary, D. K- do Castro; lion, treasurer, It. L. Ivory (re-elected); management committee, 8. A. Atkinson, T. R. Brooks, A. Collander, T. J. Dwyer, J. Tlnnock, E. C. Prcnderville, W. Whyborn; delegates to Wellington Rugby Union, G. F., Jackson, 0. G. Kember, Dr P. AloEvedy; hon. auditor, 0. G. Kemhcr, F.P.A.. N.Z. (re-elopted). At the conclusion of the meeting the president took the opportunity on behalf of the club of presenting a marble clock to Air G. H. Weir (deputy club captain) as a token of the club’s esteem on tho occasion of his recent marriage. The recipient suitably replied.
