THE PRINCE’S VISIT

DELAY OF RENOWN. TEN AUSTRALIANS WITH INFLUENZA, Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Received March 11. 5.5, p.m.) LONDON, March 11. The outbreak of influenza on H.M.S. Renown, the warship which is to bring tho Prince of Wales to Now Zealand, occurred among the midshipmen, ot whom eleven were sent to hospital, including ton Australians. Five of tho latter only joined tho vessel ten days previously. Probably these boys will miss the trip. The previous epidemic of influenza on tho Renown, in 1918, also sLarted in the gunroom, and on rhat occasion over two hundred were down at one time. Every precaution is being taken to prevent such a spread now. Tho whole of tho crew were kept on tho upper dock on Sunday forenoon while the ship was battened down, and fumigated by the medical staff. EXPECTED TO SAIL SATURDAY. (Received March 11, 10.10 p.m.) LONDON, Alareh ,10. There ar euo fresh cases of influenza on the Renown. No decision has been arrived at regarding tho date of sailing, but it is expected to take place on Saturday. PROBABLE DATE OF DEPARTURE. EFFORT TO ADHERE TO PROGRAMME. (Received March 11, 8-43 p.m.) LONDON, March 10. It is understood there is a good prospect of tho Prince of Wales departing on March’ 13th. In that event, the Renown, which possesses considerable reserve speed, will make up the time on the voyage to New Zealand, permitting tho original dates of the tour to stand.
