INTERESTING JOTTINGS (Special to the “Times.") MASTBH.TON, February 7. At a meeting of business men held last, evening a resolution was passed calling the attention of the Board of Trade to tho inequitable distribution of sugu; throughout New Zealand, and urging the board to adopt a uniform basis of distribution. The total advances to soldiers since the inception, of the Wairarapa Patriots Association now amount to £31,5C2. _ (Ja this the sum of A 5727 has been repaid; Bush, and grass fires have occurred tc the west and north, of Masterton, but no damage has so far been reported. A Tho cash grants made by the Waii-a-rapa Association for the purpose of assisting soldiers in a temporary capacity now total .£7828. At a meeting of the fallen soldiers’ committee last night it was decided to ask tho Mayor to call a public meeting for the . purpose of deciding that the fallen soldiers' memorial sports ground at the old show grounds site shall- be adopted as “Masterton's memorial to the local fallen soldiers, and to discuss the wavs and moans of raising the necossari funds, the' committee favouring an art union. -
