HOLDING BACK WOOL
SAEE TO GOVERNMENT. STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER, Wool-brokers have received from the Prime Minister an announcement that all wool clipped this season is subject to Government requisition, and that the wool-growers who withhold such wool from sale to the Government are committing an offence. The following is the text of the announcement which is signed bv the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey!—The ‘ ment has reason to believe that certain wool-growers are holding back their wool under the impression that it wih bo free from tho Government requisition after June 3th, 1920, and available for private‘disposition.' It is advisable, therefore, to state definitely, that this is not so, and that wool clipped and wool produced at freezing works on or before ..that date cannot be exported from New Zealand, and that ita sale otherwise, than to the Government will be an offence.
The same position applies to skins from stock slaughtered /other than those at freezing works prior to June 30th, 1920).
