“HOLD-UP” IN CITY
MASKED MAN & REVOLVER LADY ROBBED OF PUB SB AND MONEY, A'masked man holding a revolver In his hand carried out a daring ‘‘holdup” in the city on Saturday afternoon. It appears that at- about 2.30 p.m. two ladies—a local resident, Airs Capper, and a friend—were seated in a public reserve in Ellice street enjoying the sun. Suddenly, the tranquillity of their afternoon was rudely disturbed by the sudden appearance of a masked man who presented a revolver at them and demanded money. Airs Clapper had just previously laid her purse on the grass alongside of her, and, noticing this the man stooped suddenly, snatched it up and made off rapidly. Airs Gapper immediately gave the alarm and a hue and cry being raised, a vigorous search for the highwayman was commenced, but without result. Fortunately, Airs Gapper’s purao only contained about 26s in money and some small trinkets, so that the “haul’’ was hardly worth the risk.
Up to a. late hour last night the offender had not been arrested.
