CRIMINAL SESSION CHARGES OF THEFT ADMITTED. Tho quarterly criminal session of the Supremo Court was continued posterday, His Honour Sir W. B. Edwards presiding. A waterside worker, Sydney Bushby, pleaded guilty to tlio following charges. That on January Ist, at Wellington, ho stole niuo aluminium saucepans, T 6 cakes of Sunlight soap, Jour packets of Lifebuoy soap, a pair of snips, one Potts iron and stand, the property ol George Winder; also with having, between January Ist- and 6th, a quantity of blue sorgo, five bags silk caps li pairs of ladies’ silk stockings, a lady’s .handbag, a Bruc-o AVoollen Mill "rug, two bottles of Australian brandy, abox of face powder, and two furs ,of a box of face powder, and two furs, of some person or persons unknown. Air H. O’Leary, on behalf of the accused, made a pica for leniency, lie said tbo latter was a haid—working man who had not previously been charged with an offence. He was (handicapped in that his wife was a confirmed invalid. His Honour said lie would give the prisoner a chance to rehabilitate himself in docent society. Bushby would bo admitted to probation for two years, and ho would also he ordered to pay £5 is, the costs of the prosecution, ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. A youth, Daniel Stephen Foley, was then arraigned on a charge that, at Hataitai on January 18th, ho committed an indecent assault on a six-year-old girl. Mr H. O’Leary appeared for .the accused. . Evidence in respect to the allegation had Just been concluded when the court was adjourned until 10.30 a.m. to-day.
