Howard Elliott is reported to have said .at a meeting at Dunedin o;i Tuesday night that Archbishop O'Shea threatened Sir James Allen that if legislation was not jppssed excluding Marist Brothers from military service. 1 Roman Catholics in the Public Servce would be called out on strike. At a meeting last night at Middlemarch, Kir Janies Alien gave this statement an emphatic contradiction. He added that he had telegraphed to Archbishop O'Shea, who had replied that the reported statement was absolutely without foundation, and that- ho had never made such a tlireat or suggestion.
