At an inquiry at the Auckland Gaol with regard to the death of prisoner named William White, the three military prisoners declared that the light work ordered for deceased was not in his best interests, and that ho was not given a diet.suitable for his condition. The Jail Surgeon and Dr. Williams said they were satisfied that the witnesses bad no ground for their statements. The Coroner ,(Mr Wilson, S.M.) returned ft verdict accordingly.
