MURITAI TENNIS CLUB
The annual general meeting of the Muritai Tennis Club was held at Muritai on Friday last, a fair'number of members being present. Mr R. \V. Shortt presided. The balance-sheet as submitted was adopted, and three new members were elected. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Hon. T. M. Wilford (re-elected); president, Mr H. \V. Shortt; vice-presidents, Messrs Averey (re-elect-vVfi, W. Blaekcy, (Leslie \re-t'lectecl), and Walker (re-elected);, committoo, Messrs C. lilackoy and Hull-Brown, Miijses'D. Leslie, E. Ray ward, and Vial; lion, treasurer, Mr C. A. Willis; hon. •secretary, Air VW T. Harbison; hon. auditor, Mr T. W. E. Mur.sden. It was decided that the official opening for tho season should take place on Saturday, November 9th. In view of the- increasing membership of the club it was decided that the use of the courts bo restricted to members, only, i'ho chairman referred to the great loss the club had sustained in flie death of Sergeant H. Girdlqstoiu:, who was recently killed in action, and a vote of sympathy with -Urs Girdlostone,. senr., was passed. _^
