PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
A meeting of the Philosophical Society was heid' in the Dominion Museum last night. Dr C. E. Adams presided. Professor H. Cloik read a paper on "The, Nature of X-ray Spectra." The lecture, which was illustrated with lantern slides, gave an account of a series of experiments carried out by Professor Clark and Dr Webster in America about three years ago. A discussion that followed was .taken part in by Messrs Clifford, P. G. Morgan, Evan Parry, Ernest Bell, Dr Adams, and Dr J. Allan Thomson. During- the evening an advance copy of the fifth number of the "New Zealand Journal of Science and Tccnnology" was exhibited, in which was a coloured plate with actual bpecimens of wool dyed by dyes obtained from the bark of New Zealand plants by Mr B. C. Aston, oi tho Department of Agriculture.
