CONFERENCE IN LONDON.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.
LONDON, July 16.
Tht. Empire Press Union Conference welcomed thirty Canadian editors. The conference discussed the necessity for increased cable facilities, and also considered the Government's proposed iimpire Press News Service. The speakers insisted that tho latter should he free from Government influence. They urged increased facilities for tho collection of news, but that the selection and transmission should remain under newspaper control. Lord Burn ham presided at a subsequent luncheon. Similar conferences of South African and Australian journalists are being arranged.
