MAGISTRATE'S COURT

CIVIL CASES CLAIM FOR LEGAL FEES. In the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Mr W. G. 'Rdddell, S.M., delivered reserved judgment in a civil dispute in which Hutchison and Arnold, solicitors, sued members of tho family of Colonel Porter for tho recovery of ,£5-1 13s, being the balance of JKJ3 9s fid,, costs incurred in connection with a iNiativo Appeal Court caso in connection with, a block of land at Mangahanui. The magistrate said that Colonel Porter had assumed that ho had authority from tho children of the family and acted as administrator in tho caso in respect to which the fees were claimed. Colonel Pbrter further 'luul appointed Messrs Hutchison and Arnold to act as counsel for tho children.- The members of the family had claimed that they had given no authority to their father to ouipxoy tho plaintiffs as solicitors. This claim was upheld by the magistrate, who said they could not be held liable for sucli expenses as were incurred. Plaintiffs therefore were non-suited. Mr T.
