DAIRYING FARMS
FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS. STATEMENT BY MINISTER FOR LANDS. At the close of tho long Cabinet meeting yesterday, the Hon. D. H. Guthrie (Minister for Lands) informed a- "Times" representative that provision had been made for returned boldiers who want good land for dairying purposes. "Several offers of such land have been made to tho Government," stated- the Minister, "in suitable localities, where there is every, chance of the men making good. We have recently purchased several of these properties, and have returned soldiers or hand waiting to tako them up. The prices paid have been such that the Land Purchase Department are oonfijdent that thero is great prospect of success in front of these soldiers. Some of the areas will be subdivided amongst two or three soldiers, and some will be just enough for one. A number; of tho properties have been purchased from men who are going to the front, so it simply means that in such cases a- returned soldier is taking the place of tho soldier who is now set free to go away."
