In his report for the month ending September 30th. the mine manager of the Murray Creek Goldmining Company, Ltd., states that the No. 4 Level has been extended south a further distance of 91 feet. The reef can be traced in the bottom of tho level for a length of 48 feet, and gold is plainly visible in tho stone. Tho level has been driven north from the winze 13 feet; width of. reef in the face is 39 inches. During the month 1386 s tong of quartz were delivered at the battery. October 5. There is nothing fresh to report in connection with the market. The Board of Trade is expected in Christchurch next week, and probably will deal with the coming season’s grain prices, and also inquire into the Wheat supply question as it affects Canterbury. Oats continue very scarce. There 1 is still a fair inquiry for oatsheaf chaff, and it is Worth from *64 to *£s per ton at country stations, according to weight and quality. As was anticipated, the potato market has declined, the best price now being *E2 10s per ton at country stations, at which prices sales have been effected.
