MEETING OF COLLECTING COMMITTEES. A meeting of the executive ""’ns held yesterday, the Mayor (Mr J. I’, Luke) in the chair. li was resolved: —(1) That tho “Our Day” appeal for Red Cross funds, together with an appeal for blind soldiers* and sailors* fund, be mad© forthwith, the said appeal to terminate on October ISth. (S) That from October 18th until Christmas the appeal be made on behalf of raising funds for the Navy League. (3) That a big appeal on behalf of raising funds for the War Relief Association should be commenced early nest year. The silver bullet scheme was deferred. The following inner executive was appointed:—The Mayor and Mayoress, Jdra Pearce. Mrs W. Nathan, Mrs Myers Messrs Marcus Marks, 1. W. Marten., M. A. Carr, L. Tripp, XYoung, J. Mclntosh (treasurer), and E. A. Phelps (secretary). A meeting of this committee will take place in the Mayor’s room tomorrow, at 5 o’clock.
