RUGBY UNION
WEEKLY MEETING. Tho weekly meeting of the management committee of tUe Eugby Union was held last night, there being present Messrs D. D. Weir (chairman), A. O. Kitto. E. H. Ward, G. Howe. J. N. Millard, A. Jackson, W. Hormg, U. Buck and J. Robertson. The secretary of the Hamilton Eugby Union asked if it were possible to arrange a match with the local representative team while on its way to Auckland or while coming back. The union decided that it_ regretted that it would be unable to play. A letter was received from tho secretary of the Oriental Club, who asked that the suspension placed on a member of, their club bo removed. The flayer was suspended for four playing Saturdays, and owing to the long spell of wet weather eight Saturdays had /"’elapsed, five of them being playing Saturdays: The union decided not to accede to the request. Mr J. Eobertson was elected to the management committee, in place of Mr E. Carman, who has enlisted with the reinforcements. An Athletic nlayer and an Oriental player, members of the third grade, were before the union for fighting while a match was in progress on a recent Saturday. It was decided that they be suspended for two playing Saturdays. Mr W. N. Jackson was appointed manager of the local team which will clay the Wairarapa representatives at Carterton. on Saturday.
