Tlio closing scones in the great trial of Gorman Consul Franz Bopp and Ids accomplices, lor alleged bomb plotting in San Francisco, was of unusual interest. The first American woman Crown prosecutor made her appearance and intense interest was taken in what was, perhaps, the most important case ever tried in the Federal Courts of California. Mrs Annette A. Adams, erstwhile principal of the Modoc High School, and today a celebrated woman lawyer, was inspired rather Hum awed bv the attention focussed upon her. She seemed am,used over the commotion surrounding her, but was impatient to begin her legal attack on the San Francisco branch of the Kaiser's official family. Jurists and lawyers and Government officials of the sterner box. who scoffed at her appointment two year ago, now came to listen. She had "arrived.” and they had come to greet her. Her summing up of the evidence is reported as a masterful presentation, a skilful recital. Dispassionately, in a calculating vein, she compared the evideuce submitted. The manner of her argument completely won the undivided attention of judge and jury and of everyone in the packed court room, with the special attention of the indicted German Consul. In concluding she said, “Gentlemen of the jury, your duty to yourselves and your country is clear. You must sustain the laws and the neutrality of the United States of America. Wo ask for a verdict of guilty against each -n everyone o ftho defendants.” Jha accused' were found guilty.
