GBEAT EASTER WON BY NYSTAD. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 9. The Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting opened to-day in dull weather. There was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £36,657 10s, against £38,365 last year. From a bad start Croesus went away in front with Good Hope, Margerine and Fiery Cross following, Sasanoff being at the tail end of the ruck. With three furlongs gone Nystad had run into a good position and’ Sasanoff was making up the ground fast. Croesus was finished with half-way down the straight and Nystad, Sasanoff, Fiery Cross and Margerine made a great race of it, Nystad lasting long enough to win by half a length, a head separating second and third horse.
