A SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION. MULTAINE WINS THE AUTUMN HANDICAP. (By Our Special Reporter.) FEATHER STON, April 9. The Wairarapa Racing Club concluded its autumn meeting to-day in fine weather and under fair conditions. The fields wore narrowed down in quality by the withdrawal of Oio Chortle brigade, but nevertheless tne dav was an interesting one. Chakwana was withdrawn from tne ■Vutumn Handicap, and Multaine filled the place that Chortle might have hold, had he been left in. The machine handled £37,674 for the two days, against £35,956 for the last autumn meeting. Johnny Walker was first afoot with Prince Delaware close up, and then Pall Mall, with To Opal, who was left, last. They raced in that order up to the straight, where Sardinia, who had been in behind, took the lead and won easily, on the hit. Lady General easily held the others and went on to win by a length, Bairnsdale being less than a length behind Lady Black, with Pariform in fourth place. Time, Inun 13isec.

Racing to the straight Vagabond had a break of two lengths on the field, at the head of which was Pervolo and Cooing. Porvolo mado a good effort to overhaul the lender, but failed bv half a length. Heads separated tho second and third horses, and Cooing was only a pinch away. Time, Imin 1 3-osec. WAIOHINE HANDICAP, Of 120 sovs; sis furlongs. 1— T. Ramanuwhiri got the best of the start and promptly placed several lengths hot ween herself and the field. Tuticorn was next, and Perrier behind him. Splendidus hopped .off early, and was never headed. Parifoym put in a challenge two furlongs from home, but he had no chance with the chestnut. Humorist and Merrie Poto also made advances for the premier position, but they failed to overhaul Splendidus, who won by a length from Merrie Poto, Humorist being s, length away again.
