In a bowling 'match, at Masterton yesterday : tho Park Club defeated Greytown by a few points; Mr Stafford, a returned soldier, has been appointed teacher at Horoeka. - Private A. Miller, son of "Mr Walter Miller; of Fernridge, bits died from pneumonia. Deceased was formerly in the employ of the Masterton Farmers’ Implement Company, and was very .popular among his friends, who will hear of his death with feelings of deep regret. Councillor G. W. Sellar has decided not -to seek re-election at the coming municipal’, elections. This is to be regretted; as Councillor Sellar is one of the most able members of tho council, and has given much time to the work of the borough. His services, particularly in regard to matters of finance, have been of exceptional value. Masterton can ill afford to lose the services of so able a councillor. Corporal A. Daysh, son of Mr J; Daysh, of Nireaha, was wounded at the front on March 13th. The fact that among the soldiers at the Feathorston Camp there is musical talent of exceptional ability was again demonstrated at the concert held in the Town Hall last evening, when the building was packed with an audience which applauded the clever soldiers- to the echo. The items were right through thoroughly enjoyable, and to single out any member of the combination for special praise would be doing the others an injustice; The soldiers responsible for last night’s enjoyable concert belonged to the 26th Specialists, and their efforts were in aid of the funds of the Masterton Entertainment Committee.
