On a recent voyage of a steamer t> wallet of surgical instruments- disappeared from tiie ship’s surgery, while later a pair of binoculars was found to be missing. Vv'hcn_ the, vessel ar; rived hero suspicion pointed to n seaman named Thomas* William Gilford, in whose possession the missing property was discovered. Giilard appeared before Mr G. G. Reid, S.ld., iu tho Magistrate’s Court yesterday. After hearing the evidence Xiis Worship sentenced him to one month’s imprisonment for stealing the instruments anti convicted and discharged Lim on the second charge.
