general meeting.
A largely attended general meeting of the Waterside Workers’ Union was hem in tho X store waiting room last night, Mr L. Glover presiding. The decision of the Conciliation Court meeting regarding a Dominion conference between the representatives ot tiio waterside workers, the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Federation, and tho shipowners was adopted. A resolution was carried calling on members to carry their union cards and to refuse to work with non-unionists. It was decided that nominations tor the position of president should close on Monday, March sth, at 5 pm. and that tho election should take place on Wednesday and Thursday, March /th and Bth. Mr H. H. Simmons was elected as returning officer to conduct the ballot and Messrs T. Holding and Jae. Held were appointed Scrutineers. The matter of holding the union picnic was discussed, and it was resolved that the matter be left in the hands of the executive with power to add to their number,
