PAHIATUA BY-ELECTION
CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED. Pruss Association. PAHIATUA. August I. Mr G. Harold Smith, solicitor, who contested the Pahiatua seat in 1899, has been approached to stand as the Reform candidate and has consented, .subject to being-satisfied that it is the general wish of the electors. Mr R. B. Ross, an ex-member of the House, says that he has definitely decided to come out as an Independent candidate;
A large and representative meeting of electors of the Pahiatua district was held last night at Woodvilla. Mr Harold Smith was unanimously chosen by the meeting as the candidate to represent the Reform interest in succession to the late Mr J. H. Escott, M-P. Mr Smith accepted nomination.
