The “Evening Standard’s” correspondent at Pekin says that a great military review, planned for the 10th, the anniversary of the' formation of the Republic, was abandoned owing to the discovery that the military loaders had arranged a coup d’etat to forcibly crown Yuan Shih Kai as Emperor djiring the review. , The Imperial yellow robes'' were ready, and it was. known that the President was willing and anxious to become the first of a new dynasty. The monarchial movement is rapidly developing, and has grown in the belief that Yuan will be proclaimed Emperor on the first day of the new year. 1 ,
