DESERT GOLD WINS THE GUINEAS

Press Association. f, , HASTINGS, October 9. Splendid weather prevailed for - tlie second' day of the Hawke’a - Bay Jockey Club's spring meeting. The course was in excellent order, and the ■ attendance well up to the average. W. Adams, thp rider of Gladful iin the Tomoana Hack, was badly, injured, having his collarbone broken and severe injuries to bis chest. The lacing on the whole waa excellent, there being several close finishes. The totalisator investments were .£17,292, m compared with .£16,773 last year.
