SOUTH WALES UNDER THE MUNITIONS ACT 3y Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON. July 13. The executive of the British Miners’ Federation advises the Welsh miners to continue work. Mr Lloyd George announces by proclamation that South Wales is under the Munitions Act, which makes it an offence to particijiatc in a strike without first seeking arbitration. 3lr YVinston, President of tbe South Wales Miners’ Federation, states: “The Government forgets that it is up against the South Wales miners. They tell us wo must work to put something more into the coalowners’ -pocketc. Not likely.” Mr Winston adds; “They may destroy the South Wales miner, but they will' never "coerce him.” SCOTTISH MINERS CLAIM ADVANCE IN WAGES. LONDON, July 13. The Scottish miners are claiming a 25 per cent, advance on the 18S3 basis. Ninety thousand men are affected. FEDERATION’S APPEAL. (Received July 14, 11 p.m.) LONDON, July 14. The Miners’ Federation appeals to the South Wales miners to continue work from day to day until a settlement has been reached.
