THE NEW CAMPS
WORK PROCEEDING SMOOTHLY
“The work at the now camps is proceeding smoothly,” stated the Minister for Defence last night in response to a question from a “New' Zealand Times” reporter. Tho camp at Waikanae had been placed in, a satisfactory condition, with the tents properly pitched, and provided with floors, and tho men who had been at- Levin over tho week-end were going to Waikanao oh the following day to continue their training. The Director of Military Hospitals had reported that the camp was ready for occupation. The Minister added that the other forces would he going to their new camps speedily. The arrangements for the training of the various sections under the new conditions were well in hand. The members of the Sixth Infantry Reinforcements were still in Trentham camp and , were remaining there. . There are five troopers from the Waikanae camp in the Otaki Hospital' at the present time, three suffering from measles.
