COLLIERIES WILL STOP UNLESS DEMANDS ABE GRANTED,

After a conference with the South Wales miners, the Labour leaders announced that they had resolved .not to accept anything leas than the original' proposals, and would stop the collieries on Thursday until their demands were accepted. PROPOSALS REJECTED. LONDON, July 12. The South Wales Miners’ Conference rejected the Government’s proposals to settle the dispute. The men’s leaders do not expect a general strike, but believe the Government will be compelled to take further action. NOT AMENABLE. (Received July 14, I a.m.) LONDON, July 13. The miners’ delegates at Cardiff fre* quently refused to listen to thd’members of the executive. The delegates also refused to entertain the proposal of a ballot of ®iners before taking the final step. The ‘‘Daily Mail” says that if the miners’ executive fail to redeem its promise not to strike, the Government should apply the provisions of the Munitions Act to South WalesThe “ Daily Telegraph ” states that the Board of Trade is finding the coalowners less amenable than the coal merchants to reduce the prices of coal. Tlie Government intend to introduce a bill this week to secure a reduction.
