AN INVESTITURE
V.C. HEROES CHEERED,

There were 350 honours (practically all B'-rthday), anti ten Victoria Crosses (including LanceSergeant Belcher, Sergeant-Major Barter, Corporal Ripley, and Corporal Key worth). The crowd outside cheered the four V.O.’s wildly, and sought to shake hands with them. The police finally rescued the embarrassed heroes. A similar demonstration was accorded bluejackets who were awarded distinguished service medals. Tho Czar conferred Crosses of St. George on the officers and crew of tho British submarine which sank Gorman warships in the Baltic.
