HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL

The monthly mcetlnpr of the Hutt County Council was held yosteiday* There were present—Messrs W. J* Howell (chairman), M. W. Welch. J. Whiteman. T. Edwards, W- Galloway, and Wa-keham. , , ' ' It was resolved that steps be taken by the ratepayers in the Horokiwi riding to raise a loan of «£3OOO towards the cost of erecting a bridge at ■ the Pareniata estuary. * A resolution, by way of special order relative to a loan 'of £SOO for the purpose of erecting the ■ -Wainui-o-mata bridge, was carried. ' It was resolved to proceed with the erection of the new Wainui-o-mata bridge by day labour, the cost not to exceed £SSO. Mr Laing-Meason was appointed supervisor of the work. The inspector of works (Mr J. VVCudbv) reported that the continuation of metalling in the various ridings had been the chief work since the last meeting of the council. To improve tbe Trentham range road, from East road to the'northern boundary of the Liefence Department's property th e crusnor had been kept busy supplying metal, and repair work was well in hand. Accounts amounting to £l3. . 11s aa were passed for payment.
