The reports received by the Labour Department as to labour conditions in the four chief centres during the wee a ending July 3rd, show an improved tendency. In Auckland there were 116 applicants during that period and 11 of these were placed in private employment. The department now has over 200 vacancies on public works in the district, suitable for men accustomed to heavy manual labour.
