NO AMBITIONS IN THE DIRECTION OF SOVEREIGNTY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright PEKIN, July 9. The President of the Republic, Yuan-Shih-Kai, sternly protested to Chinese officials that he had no secret ambitions of sovereignty,,, and if the offer were made he would leave the country and live abroad. He added that he had already purchased an estate in England. .
