STRYCHNINE INSTEAD OF QUININE. liy Telegraph— Preaa Association—Copyright SYDNEY, July 10. At the inquest regarding the death of Mrs Page, at Newcastle, her niece gave evidence that she obtained the medicine which her aunt took, remarking ou its nasty taste. A quarter of an hour Later she died.
Dr Petherbridge gave evidence tbat he had made a mistake in prescribing the medicine, using strychnine instead of quinine hydrochloride. He called to see the patient, but she was already dead. Ho told the Government Medical Officer of his mistake. Dr Petherbridge was committed for trial.
