VOLUNTEER SISTERS
WELLINGTON WOMEN TO BE ORGANISED. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 9. The secretary of the New Zealand Volunteer Sisters’ Association, which has been for the purpose of sending sensible capable women of nursing and general household experience to the military camps, will be in Wellington next Tuesday for the purpose of organising Wellington womenMiss B. A. Rout, of Christchurch, is acting as organiser and secretary, and applications can be addressed to her, care of the Health Department, Wellington. Those-will be considered next week, and contingents of women picked from them. All applicants must pass the hon. medical adviser for the volunteer sisters in Wellington, namely Dr J. M- Mason. The volunteer sisters from Canterbury already in camp now number twenty-two, including several trained nurses who have voluntarily • sacrificed financial advantages and professional status for the purpose of signing on. No woman will be accepted unless willing to sign on to do any and every duty imposed upon her by those in authority. Applications accompanied by testimonials should be sent in as soon as possible to the secretary, care of th© Health Department, Wellington. Those already received from th© North Island (posted to Christchurch) will be included.
The organising of Wellington women is in furtherance of an agreement made by th© secretary with the Director of Military Hospitals. All volunteer sisters should be over thirty years of age except those who were trained nurses, and both married and unmarried women are taken.
