“THE VIOLETS”
The reappearance of those merry and talented, entertainers, “Tile Violets,” at tile Town 'Hall concert chamner last evening attracted a crowded attendance. An entirely new programme was introduced, winch vied with its predecessors in point of popularity-. Mies Dorothy Gard ner, the comedienne, was enthusiastically recalled for her charming vocalisations, which included “Poor Little Jane,” and a duet with Mr Cutlibert Pose. . "Carissima," by Miss Kate Oheckett,. was an artistic effort. She was equally pleasing fit company with Mr Howard Mall in “Roses” and ‘'You and I.” Mi- Oswald Browne gave a good account of himself in - the baritone solo’
‘‘Life/’ The soubrette numbers by Miss Shirley- Cooke included ‘‘Glimmer, Little Nigbtlight,” an enjoyable item, which was much appreciated.. One of the best items by Mr Arthur lliscoc Was “1 Forgot the 77umber,’’ his genial humoui being quite infectious. . “the Lute Player,” by Mr Howaid Hall, basso, was of real merit.- . Mr Cuthbert Rose’s clever impersonation, “The-.-. Mayor,” scored well. , “fiddle on Your Fiddle,” by Messrs Otto Collins and Oswald Browne evoked a hearty recall. The accompahimtbits were admirably performed by Mr Edward Cahill. “thq Violets” ■will repeat'their programme this evening. - ,
