MOTOR ’BUS SERVICES

TO COMMENCE SHORTLY IN THE city: The three motor ’busses ordered by the Citv Council from Great Britain, which arrived in Wellington some weelts ago, are now almost ready for the road, and are expected to commence running in about a fortnight’s time. The chassis have been fitted locally, and the result is a handsome and powerful vehicle. The only feature that is likely to cause trouble ia their passenger seating capacity, which is not eo great as it might be. Each ’bus will be able.to carry about 24 passengers, many of whom, however, will have to stand. The exact date of the commencement of the service has not yet been fixed, nor have the routes been decided upon. ’- Probable routes are from Kaiwarra to Thorndon, from Melrose to the Newtown tram terminus, from Roaeneath to the Orienal Bay torminus. and from Karori to Wilton’s Bush (on holidays). The main purpose of the motor ’busses is - to act as feeders for the corporation tram service, and in this capacity they are expected to prove extremely useful.
